Press Release

Northwest 35 previews exciting new collection of luxury, handcrafted rugs, celebrating global diversity and the blending of cultures

[London, 24/01/2025] Following a very positive reception at Decorex 2024, which served as the brand’s official launch, Northwest 35 will release East & West Coalesce—celebrating global diversity—to coincide with London Design Week. Examples from the range will be on show at the Chelsea Design Centre from the beginning of March.

The aesthetically harmonious blending of Scottish and Indian symbols represents the kinship and mutual appreciation that can exist between different cultures. Honouring their rich respective heritages, distinctive design elements from two regions rooted in history and tradition combine to create bold statement pieces.

The Indo-Scot, Tartan Temples and Himalayan Highlands are all offered in a variety of colourways. A range of rich, dark hues, typical of tartans, lend themselves to a somewhat masculine interior, while the lighter palette of neutral, earthy tones—one of which incorporates Pantone’s 2025 Colour of the Year, Mocha Mousse—give grounding for a more serene space. The contrasting colours of the mid-tones are intended to elevate an otherwise plain setting. There is also the option to customise these designs to preferred colours and materials, for truly unique expressions.

As with all of Northwest 35’s rugs, every piece from the East & West Coalesce collection is produced from the highest quality, sustainably sourced materials, and honours Northwest 35’s artisans and their ancient craftsmanship.

“Having experienced the blending of cultures firsthand, my identity reflects shared values from both the East and West. This collection stemmed from my curiosity to combine these influences for innovative creations that go beyond aesthetics—pieces that tell stories, foster inclusivity, and express shared values. I believe design has the power to transform interiors into meaningful environments that bridge cultural divides and celebrate our collective identity.”
