Jali Amara is intended to evoke a sense of wandering through the exquisite garden of a Mughal palace. A classic feature of Mughal architecture, the ‘Jali’ is the distinctive stone lattice screen that exists for privacy, shade, a gentle light filtering effect, and cooling in a pre-air conditioning era.
While the vegetation is very much alive and thriving, with trees maturing and plants in flower, the Jali—reminiscent of a glorious past—has been partially lost, a victim of the years. However, it possesses an unfading beauty and timelessness, ‘Amara’.
Jali Amara lends itself particularly well to placement under a dining table and is available in a variety of suggested colourways, or customised to your own colours, and to alternative dimensions and even shape.
It can also be paired with a simpler second rug, or with the Jali Amara runner, both being hand-knotted by our highly skilled artisans in luxurious New Zealand wool and Chinese silk.
