Tartan Temples

Tartan Temples

An alternative to the Indo-Scot, with the same cultural blend and concept, this design also combines the distinctive stepped temple construction of Dravidian architecture with the structured symmetry of Scottish tartan.

RUG STORY

Tartan Temples

An alternative to the Indo-Scot, with the same cultural blend and concept, this design also combines the distinctive stepped temple construction of Dravidian architecture with the structured symmetry of Scottish tartan.

Found in some of the most beautiful saree patterns, the angular, but fluid temple motifs contrast harmoniously with the orderly plaid grid. Painstakingly crafted detail within the design simulates the checkered weave of motifs in a saree.

The original design in Mocha Mousse is one of warm, earthy tones, marrying the elements together for a grounded and elegant aesthetic. However, the Tartan Temples is offered in nine colourways, or can be made in your own chosen palette, and lends itself equally well to deeper, stronger hues.

This rug can be hand-knotted in Chinese silk and New Zealand wool, as another example of the exceptional work of our artisans in Tibet, practicing their ancient art, or in a choice of different materials. It is also customisable to preferred dimensions.

East & West Coalesce

—–– East & West Coalesce is a visual celebration of global diversity, emphasising respect for different cultures. The blending of Scottish tartan patterns with South Indian saree motifs represents harmony and interconnectedness in the modern world. This fusion honours the rich heritage, unique aesthetics and versatility of both textiles, and highlights the enduring relevance of inclusivity in our increasingly globalised world.
